Oprah!!

This picture is of my dear friend, Diane, holding Henry when he was about two weeks old, along with her husband John and two precious girls, Katie and Kendal...She's going to be famous (or infamous, depending on what she does tomorrow)! Just a little shout out to my sweet friend, Diane Watkins...she's going to be on The Oprah Winfrey Show tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! She has long blonde hair and said she'll be wearing a green shirt (Oprah's favorite color, you know!). She is THE biggest Justin Timberlake fan you will ever meet and she's going to meet him tomorrow on the show!!! Yippee for Diane!!! Now, I've asked her to pull on her ear, Carol Burnette-style to let me know she's saying hi to me and Henry...

The Voice

Well one of Baby Henry's dreams came true on Sunday!! You see, our sweet Henry sleeps to the lullaby sounds of Tanya Goodman Sykes everynight...and so do Michael and I thanks to the baby monitor! Anyway, we didn't start playing her cd until about early to mid-February and the first night Henry only woke up at 1:30am and 4:30 am. He continued that schedule until the end of February, when he started sleeping through the night (yeah for Henry, really yeah for momma!). By the way, Tanya is Michael's cousin, if you were at our wedding you heard her sing a beautiful song called "Hymn of Desire" written by her husband, Michael Sykes. She has a beautiful voice, it is one of my very favorites! Well, she and her Michael go to our church and we sat with them last Sunday and let me tell you what happened....We were all on the back pew and Henry was in his carseat on the floor in front of me...staring at me and sometimes closing his eyes (playing opposum). WELL...as soon as we all started singing, sweet baby Henry's little head and eyes started turning from side to side and looking all over the place. He was looking for 'the voice'! And boy did he find it! Tanya was next to me and when Henry finally figured it out he locked eyes with her and would NOT look away!! It was so cute! Even when Tanya would look away, Henry was staring her down! So, we now know that Henry recognizes Momma's voice, Daddy's voice and most importantly, THE VOICE, Tanya Goodman Sykes!! As a sidenote, Henry obviously has fabulous taste because Tanya's cd won a Grammy a few years back...that's my smart boy! A little shout out to Mrs. T...keep singing, we love hearing you!!

Sittin' Pretty

I found a great spot for Henry to "sit" while I fold laundry...he loves to hang out and watch what is going on. Of course, I am really hoping he's watching me and learning the art of folding laundry (Aubrey Claire, I hope this makes you happy one day in about 25 years)!

Henry and the Birthday Girl!

What a fun weekend we had! Henry went to his first birthday party!! It was our sweet friend, Ellie Faber's, ninth birthday! It wasn't just any birthday party...it was at the skating rink! Michael and I were pretty excited...neither of us had been to a skating rink in years (no, before you ask, we did not skate). The rink looked the same as the skating rink I remember going to as a child, however, the music was very different! Michael and I were hoping for a little 80's music...a little Starship, perhaps...well, let me tell ya'll it was ALL Hannah all the time!! Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers--no Starship! They did shock us and play the theme to Ghostbusters. They had all the skaters come into the middle of the rink and turn on the blacklight complete with smoke from the ceiling! The kids loved it...then we realized that they probably had no idea what the song was they just all thought the blacklight was cool! Wow, I all of a sudden felt really old! Anyway, Henry loved the birthday party...he loves anytime he gets to spend with Aunt Ro, Unlce John, Ellie, Maggie and Sarah Kate! Happy Birthday Ellie!!!

Henry's Nursery

A few friends have asked for pictures of Henry's nursery...so, here ya go! I have to admit that it's my favorite room in the house! I sat in the rocker before he was born just imagining holding my sweet boy and now I get to REALLY do it every night. I love it!!!

My sweet friend from high school, Katie Riley Adams, painted this beautiful picture for Henry's room. These are three of Henry's outfit that I hung on a clothesline (really it was a zipline at my friend Robin's house!) and took a picture and emailed it to Katie...the outfits in the painting are EXACTLY like the actual outfits! Katie is so amazingly talented!! The middle daygown is the first thing we bought after we found out we were having a boy. It is also what Henry wore home from the hospital...it was ginormous on him! He wore it last week and if finally fit!
